Terms & conditions
These terms set out the basis on which Kensington Removals provides quotes and removals, fine-art handling, storage and related services. They are a summary; the full booking contract you receive when you accept a quote takes precedence.
Quotes
A quote is based on the information you give us about the property, the contents (including any art, antiques or items needing special handling) and the access at both ends. If the actual move differs materially, the price may change, and we’ll tell you before proceeding. A written quote is valid for thirty days from its date unless it says otherwise.
Booking and deposits
Your move is confirmed when you accept the quote and, where we ask for one, pay a booking deposit. If you cancel within fourteen days of paying a deposit, and before any work has begun, the deposit is refundable. Cancellations after that, or close to the move date, may be subject to a charge reflecting costs already committed — the booking contract sets out the detail.
Your responsibilities
- Give us accurate information about the goods, the addresses and the access.
- Declare high-value items, fine art and antiques so they can be handled and insured appropriately.
- Tell us about anything hazardous, prohibited or restricted before the move.
- Ensure someone is available to give access and receive delivery, or arrange a representative.
What we won’t carry
We cannot carry certain items — including hazardous, perishable, illegal or prohibited goods, and items restricted at an international destination. We’ll flag these before loading. Cash, jewellery and important documents are best carried personally.
Liability and claims
We handle your belongings with care and offer cover options, which we’ll explain when we quote — including appropriate cover for fine art and high-value contents. If something is lost or damaged in our care, you must report it to us in writing within seven days of delivery so we can investigate. Cover is subject to the limits and terms in the booking contract.
Delays outside our control
Timings, especially for international moves, depend on traffic, crossings, customs, weather and other factors outside our control. We plan carefully and keep you informed, but we cannot guarantee a specific arrival time and are not liable for delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Payment
Unless agreed otherwise in writing, the balance is payable before or on completion of the move. Payment terms are set out in the booking contract.
Storage
Goods held in storage are subject to the storage terms in your agreement, including charging periods and access arrangements, which we’ll set out clearly before storage begins.
